A third generation Texan, Chip was born and reared on the Texas Gulf Coast in Corpus Christi. Admitted to the United States Naval Academy, he competed on the Varsity Pistol Team and raced Shields Class and 420 Class on the Varsity Sailing Team. Early in his Second Class Year at the Academy, he met his future bride, Leslie Hopkins Lund of Catonsville, MD. Chip graduated as a member of the Class of 1975 receiving a Bachelor of Science with studies in Oceanography and Physical Science and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant of Marines.
Chip retired from the United States Marine Corps in 1996 with over 20 years of honorable service in a variety of Infantry and Logistics assignments. He then joined First Command Financial Planning, Inc. as a Financial Advisor in North San Diego County until his retirement after 17 years of service. In July 2013, Chip joined BDT & Associates, Inc., now Invicta Financial Group, to continue serving a select worldwide client community.
